What makes a good group therapy candidate?
Group therapy is a uniquely powerful space, but it works best when members share a common baseline of challenges and readiness. You are likely an ideal candidate for The Overwhelmed Achievers group if you recognize yourself in these experiences:
You relate to the "Overwhelmed Achiever" dynamic: You look successful on the outside, but internally you are constantly battling burnout, perfectionism, or the pressure to perform.
You are navigating Anxiety, Depression, or ADHD: You are an emerging adult looking for practical, evidence-based tools (like emotional regulation and mindfulness) to manage these intersecting executive function and emotional challenges.
You are craving peer validation: You feel isolated in your struggles and are ready to drop the mask, share your experiences honestly, and listen to the stories of others without judgment.
You can commit to the structure: You are ready to dedicate 90 minutes a week for 6 consecutive weeks to show up for yourself and your fellow group members.
Benefits of group vs. individual therapy
While individual therapy is incredibly valuable for deep, one-on-one personal exploration, group therapy offers something unique: the transformative power of peer validation. When you struggle with anxiety, depression, or ADHD as a high-achiever, it is easy to feel entirely isolated in your burnout. In a group setting, the exhausting mask of "having it all together" comes off. Seeing your internal battles reflected in five other emerging adults doesn't just reduce shame—it accelerates your growth, provides real-time community, and offers a safe sounding board to practice new emotional regulation tools alongside people who truly understand your exact experience.
Hannah’s Approach
Stepping into a room with five strangers to talk about your deepest struggles can feel intimidating. That is why my facilitation approach is deliberately structured, deeply grounded, and fiercely protective of group safety. I don't just sit back and let the room navigate itself, nor do I lecture you like a professor. Instead, I act as an active, collaborative guide.
In every 90-minute session, I hold a balanced container that blends expert-led psychoeducation with real-time peer processing. I am there to introduce practical, evidence-based tools—like mapping your window of tolerance or practicing mindfulness—while carefully ensuring that every single member has the time and space to feel heard without judgment. My goal is to cultivate a warm, identity-affirming environment where the mask of perfectionism can safely slide away, allowing authentic connection and shared healing to take place naturally.
FAQs
Is group therapy covered by insurance?
1
This is a private-pay group, meaning I do not accept insurance directly. However, a superbill can be provided for you to submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network benefits.
The Group: The investment for the 6-week cohort is $450.
The Intake: Prior to starting, members are required to complete a 50-minute individual intake session ($195). A separate superbill will be provided for this session as well.
I highly recommend calling your insurance provider beforehand to ask about your specific "out-of-network behavioral health" benefits for both group and individual therapy.
Do I need to be in individual therapy too?
2
No, ongoing individual therapy is not a strict requirement to join this group. However, every member is required to complete an initial 50-minute individual intake session ($195) with me before the group begins. This session ensures the group is a safe, clinically appropriate fit for you. During this intake, we can absolutely discuss individual therapy options if you are interested in one-on-one support alongside the group.
What if I miss a session?
3
Because this is a structured, 6-week curriculum where each week builds on the last, regular attendance is highly encouraged for your own growth and the cohesion of the group. However, life happens. If you do miss a session, we can schedule an individual session together to catch up on the missed psychoeducation content and process what those concepts mean for you personally.
How many people will be in the group?
4
The group is strictly limited to a maximum of 6 people. Keeping the group small ensures that the space remains safe, intimate, and collaborative, allowing every single member plenty of time to be heard and supported each week.
